Willoughby Scott BScN, MSc, BFA
I was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta and was raised on the Canadian prairies.
After a ten year career as a nurse and nurse educator, I began pursuing
art and took many fabric art and design classes from well known North
American teachers. In 1990 I began exhibiting textile art and since then
have participated in many national and international exhibitions, receiving
several awards for color, design and workmanship.
After establishing myself as a textile artist, my attention turned to
the Bachelor of Fine Arts, Art and Design program at the University of
Alberta, completed 2001. In this program the focus of study was in acrylic
and oil painting, drawing, figurative clay sculpture and art history.
Continued development as an artist in mixed media and textiles has been
my focus for the past eight years. The annual exhibitions, regular teaching
responsibilities, occasional judging at fibre art exhibitions and volunteer
work on the board of a provincial arts organization keeps me very busy.
